Giving Blood Adventure

Shirt: American Eagle
Skirt, Bracelets, Tights: H&M
Necklace: Modcloth
Shoes: c/o Best Friend
Nails: Mermaid's Tears by OPI
Bandage: Red Cross

This is from a couple weekends ago. I gave blood, obviously! I didn't plan the red, white, blue color palette but I like it. Fits in with the nautical theme. Here's the thing, when giving blood I have to strategically plan my sleeve length. This worked.
Now I know that giving blood is not for everyone but I think it has, well let's say a bit of a reputation. Loads of people I meet think it is absolutely torturous pain and horrible. I'm here to say, nope! Sure it stings a bit when going in but after that it is a breeze. (A weird don't move breeze because that would be bad). You can lay there and use Twitter or play Words with Friends and save lives all at the same time! What multitasking! Seems like a lot of effort but it's actually the opposite and is probably one of the simplest ways to save lives. Only don't tell people that. Just say I give blood and watch them get impressed. If you say I give blood but it's so easy it's almost the lazy way to help people they will not be impressed. So wear your bandage proudly and remember that the lack of blood is an excuse to eat more frequently.

Ok, not going to lie, I'm excited I found this! I've always loved this song by Rooney. It's one of my faves but I had no clue there was a video. To top it off it's awesome plus it strays a bit from there 70's-ish vibe (ok, not that much) but it's funny. Enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all have a wonderful, happy, and lovely food-filled day! I'm going to tackle a new recipe for Brandied Pumpkin Soup to add to an already scrumptious meal with my family. I'm so thankful for so many things (despite the recent sad times) but I especially wanted to express my thanks to you, dear readers. I know soon I'll get to know you more as comments come in, so for now, Thank You! Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to share my contributions to fashion (as different as they sometimes may be) and to share a little of my life with you! I wish you all happiness and warmth on this great day.

PS. I know most people think fall leaves, cornucopias, and turkey pictures but I'm a beach sort of girl. Doesn't my picture just oooze relaxation and happiness? Ahhhh...

Festive Adventure

Sweater: American Eagle
Leggings & T-shirt: H&M
Boots: Target
Necklace: JewelMint
Nails: Mermaid Tears by OPI
Soundtrack: I'm Gonna Make It Better by She & Him

This was for the very fun Disneyland Late Night Holiday Party. Since this happened last week, before anything depressing happened, it was too early for me to fully immerse myself in Christmas. I have to make a conscious effort to enjoy Thanksgiving before giving in to Christmas spirit. I'm totally all for being thankful. So as a compromise I went with a festive red. Loads of fun, the party I mean, but the sweater is a comfortable fun I guess too. Also love my new boots! Ok, ok, they are newer. All set for Thanksgiving everyone? And to my readers abroad...well, there are going to be some good sales from U.S. retailers this weekend online. Just a little helpful holiday tip!

Dainty Hiking Adventure

It was a party so I started being silly about posing.

Dress, Bracelet, Ring, Shoes: H&M
Tights: Target
Nails: Shopping Frenzy by Sephora OPI and Inc Splatter by Sally Hansen
Soundtrack: Stereo Hearts- Gym Class Heroes with Adam Levine

This wonderful dress was for a good friend's birthday party. Ok, actually I got it for holiday season parties but couldn't resist starting off with the party. I love the ballet feel and I've always wanted to wear this color but never find things I like. Not anymore! While the shoes and not the typical choice, I wanted to toughen the dress up a bit. Plus they are incredibly comfortable.

This was extremely well planned on my part as it was quite the long night. And when you 1) accidentally cut your hand while helping clean-yes I commonly do unexpected klutzy things, but in my defense, the broken glass was well hidden by layers of trash-and 2) there are no bandaids and then your sleeping arrangement is unexpectedly changed and you have to invent a bandage to last through the night and then find a new place to sleep, your shoes are the last thing you want to worry about. Thankfully I must be part vampire because that deep cut on my hand completely healed within a couple of days with no sign of what happened. Fun night!

PS. Thanks to Best Friend for being photographer!

Music Monday

Thanks, dear readers, for bearing with my silence last week. It's been a bit rough. I didn't feel too energetic or motivated to do much and last week felt like the longest ever. Losing a family pet is never easy but with Thanksgiving coming I'm going to try to see the good things. I am a lot more prone to tears then normal. It's a bit annoying, actually. So on to a new week! I was watching the MLS Soccer championship, rooting for the Galaxy, and one of the players with the last name of Keane made me think of a group I love. So for a lovely, if a bit haunting, song:

Sad Adventures

Well I was planning on posting yesterday but had a super long 15 hour day on set so that was a no go. I found out this morning that my dog passed away while I was at work yesterday. I went from having so much fun and being happy yesterday to really sad today. So please excuse me, dear readers, for a pause for today on posting. I can definitely say this is not a fashion day and my red, puffy eyes do not want to do anything. Hope you guys have a better day than I'm having...

Last Light Fall Adventure

Shirt, Tights, Belt, Sunglasses, Bracelets: H&M
Shorts & Shoes: American Eagle
Necklace: Forever 21
Nail Polish: Mint Candy Apple and Black Onyx
Soundtrack: Cry Me Out by Pixie Lott

So this outfit is leftover from when it was lighter fall weather. The kind where I would feel a bit warm during the day but needed some warmth for when it got chilly. Unsure how these got lost in the shuffle but I happened to like it a lot. The tights are so unexpected! Not to mention that I could run around all day on set fixing people's costumes, setting background actors, calling out directions, and occasionally lifting heavy equipment (hey a girl's gotta get a work in somewhere). Would I be wearing this now? Yeah right, I'm freezing. I switched the wardrobe over to winter and brought out all my sweaters. Lovely! Just put flannel sheets on my bed and a couple blankets. Think I'm cold at all?

Musical Monday

Hi dear readers! Ready to start a new week? I had a fun but tiring weekend so let's see if I can't get some actual normal sleep hours this week. Hope you all have a great weekend! So some music...
This is the song and video that introduced me to Kimbra. Can't get enough of the fashion, dancing, and best part the music!

Skeleton Adventure

Oh no, scary skeletons!

Shirt and Skirt: American Eagle
Scarf and Shoes: H&M
Soundtrack: Drift by Emily Osment

Another fall day at Disneyland last week, taking in the Halloween decor for, probably, the last time this year. This was my it's warm for the afternoon but chilly at night outfit. Lovely! Truth be told I'm super excited for the Christmas decorations at Disneyland to go up. But I'm still enjoying fall decor and weather too much.

Halloween Adventure

Best Friend-Matching Italy Mask
Bestie-Stepford Wife (complete with a robot panel on her neck, genius!)

Yay Halloween! I hope your Halloween was loads of fun! Ours was. It included taking a long time to get ready (which we know is always the best), dancing, and parties with great friends. And having some of my closest friends in my group made it the best! Thanks girls!

So the story behind the mask: Best friend got us these authentic masquerade masks in Italy this summer. So of course we decided promptly that it was perfect for Halloween. Being the costumer that I am, I was in charge of finding us the best costumes. Costumer that I am, there was not one thing good enough for our masks and as I barely had time to sleep in the past 2 months I couldn't make anything. So the masks will get a second run next year with historical costumes. So excited! This year we were Modern Masqueraders. Side Note: when deciding what to call ourselves and coming up with the word masqueraders it made me think of Indiana Jones. Why? Because of Raiders of the Last Arc. Oh, rhyming. Also, I think I'm bringing back crinoline skirts. It was endless delight that night, especially when dancing.

Bestie, as a Stepford wife, was so pretty and then added that pop of Halloween gory fun. That's the way to do it! The good thing about taking pictures before you go out is that it shows you details you may have missed. Like adding more black makeup and remember to take the curl out of it's bobby pin. And, by the way, the black makeup was so entertaining and it didn't rub off! I may or may not have spent some time that morning watching some YouTube about Elphaba from Wicked. And I may or may not have decided that I think I can do the green makeup now and should be Elphaba one year.
