A Look Back on 2011

I decided to have a look back over the outfits of 2011. Then, of course, I had to pick my favorites. So in no particular order, all right, mostly by month order...

Looking over the outfits was great as I had forgotten a couple of them. And I was able to see how much better the blog got over the year. That's exciting because I know it'll only keep getting better! So here's to a new year of fun and confidence with fashion!

New Year's Ideas

Well I can't decide whether I want to go out for NYE or not. I'm leaning towards not. How depressing. But that doesn't mean I don't have some ideas for makeup and hair that I'd like to share! Gather some inspiration...

Go on over to my Pinterest Hair and Makeup Ideas board. I haven't done most of them yet so let me know how it goes! Follow my boards if you want, too. I will be adding more, frequently. Because I can't help myself.

Christmas Warmth Adventure

 Turtleneck, Sweater, Heels-H&M
Pants-American Rag
Ring-Disneyland Capt. Jack Sparrow Ring
Nails-Miss Bossy Pants (Glee) by OPI for Sephora
Soundtrack-Extraordinary Merry Christmas by the Glee Cast

The Christmas season lasts a while for me. So I thought I'd share one of my favorite places to visit for Christmas. If you know me (or have been reading for a bit) you know that I love Disneyland. And Disneyland at Christmas is no exception. But the Disney California Hotel is hidden gem of Christmas cheer, warmth, and glorious decorations. I met up with Best Friend for drinks on a cold night and it was  loads of fun! I also LOVED this outfit too. It was cute without trying too hard. Loved it and kind of want to live in it permanently!! Thanks to Best Friend for being outfit photographer again.

Lacy Fireside Adventure

Necklace-Forever 21
Tights, Boots, Purse (below)-Target
Nail Polish-OPI Mermaid's Tears
Soundtrack- Christmas Lights by Coldplay

This is an old outfit I had forgotten to post. It's from the end of last month. My wonderful dog had just unexpectedly passed away and I was having a rough time of it. In true best friend fashion my best friend took me out for a night of relaxation, warmth, and drinks to cheer me up. We went after work so I threw this together after a long day on set. It was such a good night and we accomplished what we set out to do. I felt a bit better. How can you not with the warmth of that fireplace? I can feel it through the pictures!

Such a lovely night and very good drinks (that's a chocolate martini or as I call it: dessert) at The Bar at Culver City Hotel. I highly recommend it, the hotel, I guess the drink too. Not to mention the great history the hotel has since it's been open since 1924. Go to this site for a bit of history that include Charlie Chaplin, John Wayne, and the Wizard of Oz munchkins. Thanks Best Friend for a fantastic night and for being my outfit photographer!

Merry Christmas Music Monday!

Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays. This is from one of my favorite Christmas movies. I had no time for outfit pictures, sadly. I was literally making presents up until I had to leave for church and from there it was a whirlwind of activities...and loads of food and happy times with my fam! I hope your weekend was lovely. Here's to a wonderful last week of the year!

Food time!

No work and I'm still running around with so many things to do. But I thought I'd leave this for you as I run out the door and I haven't done a food post in oh so long. We all know that the holidays mean loads of good food. But what if you have to contribute and you want something different? Welcome to Brandied Pumpkin Soup! I made it for Thanksgiving but I'm a huge fan of pumpkin and I think it's perfect fall and winter. I'm still perfecting the recipe but the basic soup itself is so good! Not sure where I got this (it magically appeared in my recipes) and it's super simple to prepare.

Brandied Pumpkin Soup

  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • ½ teaspoon each ground ginger and nutmeg
  • 3-½ cups chicken broth
  • 3 cups canned pumpkin
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 2 Tbsp. brandy
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Crouton Garnish

  • In saucepan, cook onion in melted butter until transparent Blend in spices and broth. Bring to a boil. Blend in pumpkin and half-and-half. Reduce heat. Stir occasionally until soup is hot. Stir in brandy. Season to taste. Garnish with croutons. Makes 2 about quarts.

Relaxed Shopping Adventure

Shirt/Jacket-American Eagle
Shirt, Leggings, Purse-H&M
Belt-gift (long time ago)
Headband-Forever 21
Nails-Rimmel in Gold Silk and Sally Hansen Shatter in Fuchsia Shock
Soundtrack-My awesome Pandora Christmas station that I'm slowly but surely honing into perfection. But specifically: Jingle Bells-Michael Buble with the Puppini Sisters

My title might lead you to think I meant Christmas shopping this week. But fooled you! It's from Black Friday weekend. I know, I know, ages ago. Technical difficulties. I say weekend because, yes, I wore this two days in a row. In my defense the second day was only half a day so it doesn't count, fully. I needed something comfortable, creative, and easy for me to try on clothes with. The best part, though, while shopping and trying to avoid this little girl around 10 and focus on my shopping, she looked up at me and out of nowhere tells me "I really like your shirt!" She gave me a huge smile and ran off. If that's not a one of the best seals of approval, I don't know what it is.

Christmas Music Monday

Last Monday before Christmas! Ah! This season makes me so happy! But I'm very behind on the shopping list. In fact that's what I'm off to do now. Had to start it out right with a wonderful Christmas tune, though. Last week I was driving to work and thought of this song and knew I had to share this classic. Then, like usual, I forgot. This happens to be my sister's favorite and she promptly told me to put this up and was then appalled that I could possibly forget. So here's to you, sis.

Gift Ideas

We are getting so close to Christmas, it's exciting! And then, the realization, wait a minute, I haven't gotten even half way through the list of gifts to get. Oh panic! Wait, I don't panic, how silly! If you are like me, you like to give carefully thought out gifts that you know will be loved. This takes timing, research, and creativity. So how about a store that most people may not automatically think of (you know Target or Nordstrom or something like that)? How about Bass Pro Shops? They have so much for those outdoorsy types on your list and those who aren't. Added bonus, the wonderful decorations make it fun.
A wonderful fireplace greeted me when I entered
 Real fish in there
He kind of looked like he was encouraging me to buy something.
There are clothes, shoes, food, fishing gear, so many options! And I may or may not have checked off a couple gifts off my list there.

Have fun!

Bright and Lacy Adventure

Sweater: LC by Lauren Conrad, Kohl's
Skirt: American Eagle
Tights: Target
Shoes: H&M

Right well this from a couple weeks ago, when it wasn't freezing. I may or may not think it's permanently freezing, right now, because I've been filming at night in 40 degree weather, sometimes 35. I can't seem to warm up (when I'm not in bed, oh glorious blankets!) and looking at this outfit makes me cold. But at the time it was fantastic. Warm but cooling in a breeze, against the lace. Wore this running errands and shopping I believe. Comfortable and bright!

P.S. Follow me on Twitter, dear readers! Let's get to know each other: ChristiLynneA

Gift Ideas

Fashion post is coming tomorrow. Be excited, I am! But I stumbled across this fantastic idea for a gift.

It is so cute and clever. I think I will be making this for some gifts. Can't say for who though because they might actually read this post. So it's our little secret. Follow this link Bird Nest Necklace on over to get a step by step. What do you think? Think you'll try it? Oh and while I make it for those I love might as well make one for myself I think. Since I'm at it...

Music Mond...Tuesday

On set all day so no Christmas music for Monday. Well, let's carry it into Tuesday.
And these guys are wonderful! As is their Christmas album.

Christmas List

Christmas List
I finally put together a a list of some things I've been craving. My first time
doing a Christmas list and my first time using Polyvore. I'm just knocking
out a bunch of firsts, how productive of me.  My faves in the list are the shoes
and the lovely green dress. Here's the thing, my parents asked for a list but
they have always been good at picking things out for me. So I decided to do
some styles I've been looking at too, just in case they find some amazing
things. To top it off I'm listening to Christmas music as I write. Glorious!

Sorry for the recent absence. I've got outfits lined up but having technical
difficulties uploading. Sooo, hopefully soon...

Windy Devastation

Well, dear readers, I have power! No, not absolute power, electrical power. Since 2 this morning it's been gone. For those of you in California, you might have seen the news about wind storms, if you're not, well there have been massive windstorms! Winds were around 60 miles per hour (probably more) all night. Oh my goodness the plant life devastation! I even had to cancel work because it was too dangerous to drive and trees had fallen along my route. So that's all to say no fashion today! I spent the day trying to conserve the battery on phone and cleaning up outside. Found so many plants that were not from either the front or back yards. Whew! Batting down the hatches for another night of high speed winds and probably no power tomorrow. Yay!
Picture from:

P.S. Of course this is how graceful I look in the wind!
