Hello, dear readers. I'm so excited to announce a winner for my giveaway on Wednesday. I apologize for taking so long. I've been spending long days (in a gorgeous costume, complete with corset...makes me happy) on set. Days off I spend playing catch up. And I love it all. There will be more this week as I'll have more time. (Not exactly a good thing) Promise.
Until then, a wonderful and inspirational song. And of course fun fashion.
Hair-(unfortunately the picture didn't come out) two fishtail pigtail braids wrapped up and pinned
Hello, dear readers, did everyone have a good week? I just had to get a quick post up before work tomorrow. This is my bird shirt. As in, my shirt's sleeves, in my mind, are wings. I may, or may not, enjoy and try to utilize the breeze for my wings. There is always the off chance that I may take off...if just for a little bit. Sorry the lighting is off in the pictures.
Did you enter the giveaway yet? I'll announce a winner (hopefully) on Monday. There are not many entries yet so your chances are good! Go on over and do a quick entry.
Sunglasses, Skirt & Tank top-H&M
I spent the day, yesterday, at the beach for work. This is not what I wore but I did wear this another day at the beach (not for work). Just a quick jaunt to the beach for relaxation. Not a day for swimming in the ocean or volleyball in the sand. So no active clothes needed to be worn. I had been dying to wear this skirt at the beach because of it's propensity to blow in the wind. Very gratifying! In general, any time I spend at the beach is gratifying. It's not that difficult to do, actually.
I hope everyone had a great weekend! And now on to the week...
I've got a pretty packed one so far so hopefully I'll find time to blog. In the meantime let's enjoy some summer music by my favorite summer time band.
Shirt & Necklace-American Eagle
Hair-A small section of hair in the front is twisted and then used as a headband. Pulled back the rest of it into a low ponytail then sectioned off. The sections are twisted then pinned up. Flowers pinned on top.
I couldn't help but love wearing the orange and blue flowers together. Why you ask? They are the colors of my alma mater! Wearing blue and white somehow frees me to add a bunch of other colors. I don't usually go for big statements of it but this time I added little touches of colored flowers in my hair and my shoes. What can I say, flowers make me happy.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Thanks for reading!
PS. I'm extending the deadline for the giveaway entries to the 27th. I have a packed week and won't have time until then. That just gives you more time to enter, yay! Go on over and enter.

Midi Skirt-Forever 21
Necklace- c/o 31 Bits
Nails-Watermelon! Strawberry Margarita, Mermaid's Tears, Black Onyx all by OPI
Hair-Ponytail braided into a fishtail braid
I was wearing this skirt a lot in June when it was slightly cooler due to June gloom. I happen to like June gloom so I feel the gloom part of the phrase may be inappropriately named. But I digress. I generally like the feeling of the wind blowing my skirts around so this skirt makes me happy. And it has pleats. On trend!
I highly recommend finding clothing in this color green. When paired with other colors it really pops. About 85% of the time while wearing this skirt, random people will comment on how colorful I am or how they love the colors.

Tank top, Shorts, & Sandals-American Eagle
Bracelets & Purse-H&M
Necklace- c/o 31 Bits
Hair-Game of Thrones inspired-two halo braids, combined into one, then three braids under the halo ones. Braid the three braids together.
Most people have been experiencing very warm temperatures and humidity around the U.S. and being in California, we are no exception. I'm fine with heat...humidity, not so much. Staying cool while out and about generally means shorts and tank tops, but how to spice that up? A chunky necklace! I've been on the hunt for one and 31 Bits was kind enough to send me one! Definitely didn't feel like a boring outfit.. I also felt a bit like a character on Game of Thrones: intricately braided hair and big accessory. I firmly believe I can never go wrong with that: intricate braids and bold accessories. Feminine...and fierce.
Now for the best part! 31 Bits has been kind enough to offer one of my readers a necklace of equal value! A little bit about the wonderful company- Mission: "31 Bits Designs is a socially minded business designed to give internally displaced women in Northern Uganda an opportunity to counter poverty. By giving our beneficiaries access to the international, market, they are able to earn an instant income, providing homes, food, and education for their families. Out program equips women by providing literacy education, financial and vocational training, holistic care, and strong support systems, empowering individuals to further their careers and attain social equity." So wonderful!
And to top that off, the jewelry is made of recycled paper!
2 easy steps to enter the giveaway: 1. Must be a follower of this blog
2. Leave a comment with your name and email so I can contact you
Easy! I'm so excited to offer this giveaway! Huge thanks to 31 Bits for the opportunity! The contest ends on Monday, July 23. I'll draw one name randomly and contact the lucky reader. Good luck!

And now for something completely different...
Stumbled across this today and had to share with you. I'm sure you all like your respective names. (I'm sure they are wonderful) Maybe you don't like it, I don't judge. But let's find some new ones...just because. GeekSugar has a list of name generators to have fun with. (It's short. Don't worry, I won't distract you for that long) Some of my favorites:
my medieval name: Queen Joscelyn the Fair (how lovely) my vampire name: Anne Raven known in some parts of the world as Demeter of Reykjavik and said "amongst fire and ice, one who is hot and cold" (I'd be scared of me) my pirate name: Captain Charity Bonney (yes, that's Captain!) my Star Wars name: Ankaar Anaswal-a rogue starship pilot from Fest (yay, a pilot and a rogue at that!) my absolute favorites are from Lord of Rings:
Elven-Tódia Queen of the Noldor (best one!)
Human-Lissi Queen of Dale (definitely like this one, feel free to call me Lissi haha)
Wizard-Ilmare the Necromancer
Dwarf-Jidda of Belegost
Hobbit-Clealyan Norcross of the Bree
Hello, dear readers! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm excited about this week ahead. Why? You ask. Well, I have my first ever giveaway for you guys! Yay! Look for that later this week...
And now for some music to start out the week. While the artist and song are great (of course) I couldn't help but focus on the her fantastic skirt in the video. Pretty, colorful, and loads of volume...love. Yes, I'd like to have that skirt (you read my mind!) Enjoy.
Want an easy hairstyle? Three mini buns is relatively simple and so cute! I keep reaching for these fantastic pink shorts at least once a week. I'm obsessed with how they seem to go with everything and offer a pop of color. Don't worry, I have some self control. Sometimes. But I'll be honest and tell you, dear readers, that you will definitely see these shorts again. And again. Maybe they are my version of bright colored pants. I can't bring myself to wear pants...too hot. I haven't gotten any for that reason. So instead I reach for the brightly colored shorts. The same right?
Belt, Purse, Bird Ring, Shoes-H&M
Nails-Pink and white stripes
Hair-Curled all over for the full volume
Brave theme! I was super excited to see Brave and so dressed for the occasion. Like I mentioned in a previous post, there were different outfits to draw inspiration from. I chose the dark blue one. Didn't have a bow and arrow to accessorize with, unfortunately. Compensated by doing my hair like Merida instead. Loved it.
Now, because it might be boring always seeing me on the blog, introducing my beautiful best friend Cosima! (Thanks, dear, for gracing my blog!)
She couldn't exactly remember where she had gotten all of the clothes, so I won't label these. You can see the top in this post too. Cosima also wanted to theme dress. (Really, who doesn't?) So we went through her closet and I helped put this together. If you look carefully, the pattern on her collar matches the pattern on the graphics of Brave. Brilliant!
We had a wonderful best friends night of flavorful dinner, fascinating conversation, exuberant laughter (we are notoriously loud laughers), and wrapped it all up with the opening midnight showing of Brave. Where we proceeded to laugh some more and thoroughly enjoy a beautifully animated film.
It is customary, of course, to pretend you are shooting a bow and arrow at 2 in the morning. It is also customary at 2 in the morning for me to try to do a picture showing my makeup and end up trying to control my giggling instead. In case you were wondering I lined my eyes top and bottom (water line) navy blue and Katy Perry Eyelure eyelashes.
Part of the fun with having long hair, I think, is all the styles you can do with it. But where to get the ideas? Well, I turn to my Pinterest page. I'm slowly but surely trying out the styles from my accumulated pictures. I thought I'd share these with you too! No sense in keeping them to myself. I can do tutorials on some of these if you want (the ones I've tried at least) just send me an email, tweet, or comment and let me know. Follow me on over to Pinterest. Have fun!

Hair-(hard to see, next time I'll take a picture in more light. Also I'll make it more even) skeleton bone braid
Apparently, my camera has been holding out on me and has stashed several outfits I'd forgotten about. This is from a night out with one of my sisters to see Greg Laswell. I had never heard his music but I do like Ingrid Michaelson and she sang too (briefly). I'm always up for new music! Good music and good fun. For a weeknight out I was feeling an effortless cool and this worked so well for that, with added pops of color of course. I've been wearing this skirt so much lately, love it!
